Chairperson
I'd like to start by thanking all those present for their
attendance. I'm sure that we've all got other commitments, so
the
effort
made to turn up is appreciated.
It's been another successful year because I have not received a
single call ofconcern or complaint from a club member or any
individual or representative of any other organisation. This can
only mean that the club is ticking over very well or that I'm
totally unapproachable as Chair. It can't be the latter, because
as you know, I'm the nearest thing to perfection you're ever
likely to get. (a slight pause for the laughter to die down!).
On the activities front, I can only complement the real workers
of the club, because jf it wasn't for their
efforts
during the year, the club would not tick over - it would. stop!
The officers concerned should be well known to you; people like
Robbie, Wyn and Gethyn.
On the subject of Gethyn, I feel it's only right to mention that
he's doing too much. In the jobs list, he's undertaken three
club positions and has, without doubt, done an excellent job.
I'd like to remind you that he took up the position of boat
organiser at very short notice during a difficult time. Even so,
some Quality trips were achieved. This is not a poor reflection
on his performance, more a concern that one "willing horse" is
being loaded with too much. I would like to see the club duties
more evenly distributed, if possible.
The club web site, although started Quite well, is now in a poor
state due to being. out of date. I can only provide information
on the site if I've been given the information in the first
place. I must hold my hands up at this point and say that I have
received some information which I've not published. I can't hold
my hands up because their far too busy doing other things. I
will strive to correct this matter.
With regard to the Marine Nature Reserve, I have not heard or
read anything new in the newspapers. It seems that this matter
and that of the proposed Marina in Gallows Point have gone very
Quiet; probably drowned under a sea of bureaucracy.
There are other matters I'd like to comment on which concern
other sections of the club, but I'll reserve those comments as a
club member and not mention them as Chair of the club. My
comments are intended as constructive and I do not want them to
be interpreted as being negative; that I will never do.
Thank you for your continued support and I wish you all
continued success in 2002.

Treasurer
Nothing much too report on for this post. Up to now I've still
not returned the form to the bank to complete the transfer of
the account. This will be done this week now that I've got new
signatures on the updated sheet. Statements are safe etc, as
they are still being sent to Johnny's place, much to his
annoyance ...........Hehehe!
As for our financial situation very little went out of the clubs
account last year - 2 unfilled boat places, our W.F.S.A
affiliation at £65.00 and the £10.00 for the Anglesey Sports
Club. Financially we are a healthy club, with over £1000.00 in
both current and deposit accounts. Most of this is down to
Johnny's hard work in not letting us near the money. This will
continue now that I'm getting things sorted.
For our next meeting, whenever it may be, I'll have-a full
breakdown of our accounts available and additionally the rolling
deposit scheme, as I am part way through deciphering Johnny's
book with who's got what and where.

Secretary
Our membership closed at 23 seniors and 20 juniors, which is on
par with past years. It was really gratifying to see our junior
section continue to grow and without stealing to much of
Gethyn's thunder give a special mention to Chris Bellion. Who by
merit alone won through to represent Wales at last years Home
Junior Shore International in Cardiff. Well done Chris and also
Gethyn our Junior section leader for all our efforts which were
duly rewarded!
Whilst on that subject (success not juniors), Wyn Parry came
away as the top rod in the Home Boat International out of
Arbroath - well done! Also on his first tour of duty, Roy "cool
hand Luke" Williams won the Silver medal at the European Boat
Championships in Caherisveen / Ireland. Only losing out of the
Gold medal on a fish count back, the top 4 anglers all had the
maximum 300
~/o
(3 boat wins out of3) that shows the calibre of angling, again
well done (no I haven't got a stutter - that's how he likes his
steaks)! Other members on national duty were Alan "Irish
International" Reid and Colin Orn1e Thomas - Home Boat
International, Bob "Stella Artouise" Muirhead and yours truly.
On the domestic front we had Bob "The Legend" Muirhead (same
person but another story) winning top honours at the Personal
Members final out of Swansea (Wyn 3rd, Alan 8th) - well done !
The three must be queers, sorry I mean musketeers, lost the
Region section by the narrowest of margins to the East region.
Finally Alan took the longest Bass pool!
So all in all quite a good year, the only disappointment being
the cancellation of the Caernarfon Open due to the Foot and
Mouth crisis but such is life.

Junior Officer
2001 was another very successful year ashore for our younger
rods, not so lucky afloat with our 2 junior boat trips being
cancelled. For our matches we fished the local piers as in the
previous year, with an average turn out of 11 members, from a
healthy 20 strong section. Big congratulations tonight go to
Chris Bellion. Not content with winning our pier league for the
second year running, Chris successfully qualified to represent
Wales at international junior level.
Chris fished at the Home International championships held at
Cardiff last November. The Welsh Juniors came second to a
highly competitive and established English team that included a
current world champion. This however does not give a true
reflection of their achievements. The welsh youngsters missed
out narrowly by 1 fish or had the same amount of fish but the
sizes were a bit smaller. Well done to them all. Hopefully they
can take the Gold crown in Scotland this year.
Joe Crowley, the junior team manager, spoke highly of all the
squad, stating that they were well mannered and a credit to
Wales.
Which leads nicely into a little point I would like to make.
This is regarding the conduct of all our juniors. Too often
these days you hear of vandalism, and lack of respect for
anything or anyone etc, etc. Taking all our juniors out fishing
is a pleasure. All are well behaved, well mannered and eager to
learn through asking questions and listening to what they are
being told. OK they're not saints all the time, sometimes I
could happily muzzle a few just for 10 minutes peace & quiet,
but I truly think it needs to be reported that all are a credit
to their club and especially their parents.
Now to 2002, I need to relinquish one of my posts within the
club. 3 posts for one individual is too much and not what a club
or committee is about. On a personal level I have too much on my
plate, with GO Angling, PM's, and the boat festival, this year
is already turning out to be rather frantic. Next year I will
stand down as junior officer, truth be told I would much prefer
to step down now as I am uncertain of the commitment I can offer
the children.
Whoever takes on the role, will take over a healthy section. 20
keen young rods and £200 in the kitty for the boat trips from
last years raffle money (Last years trip were cancelled). If
anyone would like to take on this officer's role please contact
me ASAP.

Charter Boats Officer
Firstly may I open this report by wishing a Happy New Year to
all Officers and club members. I am glad to report back to the
AGM that this section of our club had a very successful 2001. In
all we managed to fish 8 of our 12 booked trips, with 2 being
blown off and the other 2 never materialising, yes the doomed
Tope trips.
On the strength of this section alone we attracted 10 new
members to the club.
Sadly we lost £80 on our booked trips, with two spaces going
unfilled. May I take this opportunity to thank all the ABC
members old and new who supported the charter boat trips and
saved the club from a larger financial disaster.
We did fish our first trip as a competition to the agreed points
system. However it became apparent after the second trip that
there was an uneasy mix of those who wanted a match and those
who didn't. ~ A proposal for 2002 is that we nominate 5 trips as
matches. All are welcome to fish, but those wanting to fish a
match to be given priority in booking these trips. The boat can
still be made up with non-match fishing individuals if spaces
need to be filled.
There have been some memorable times and fish throughout the
year. One fish that stands out was John Traynor's Tub Gurnard
of7lb, whilst fishing with Andy Wragg on the Huntress. Another
fish was a cracking 17lb Pollack caught aboard Andy Owen's
Morgan James by a non member (who filled a space for us). Or
John Traynor again with a 17 and a half LB Thornback Ray, (lucky
sod!) I could mention Bob & Sue having 40 winks, but I wont go
into detail.
I've a few dates booked already for 2002. The calendar of 8
trips will be available before too long. I will stress to
everyone though that all of us here tonight have a
responsibility to fill these places and not just me. Last year,
many phone calls, emails and pleads on my behalf saw the boat
places fill up with new members.
I am annoyed and a little fed up that more support for the
section was not given. WE ALL GRUMBLED AND MOANED... at the
lack of charter fishing, when asked to take up the role and do
something about it, I would have appreciated more support.

Small Boats Officer
Last year we only managed to fish 3 matches for a variety of
reasons, all out of Treaddur Bay. It has to be said the turnout
was rather poor (not the words used but we do have juniors)!
Never the less we still managed a profit of £25.00.
(Sec's note - at this point a short discussion took place
highlighting Alan's conservational method of netting, or rather
not, of Smoothhound)!
Hopefully with the strong prospect of a Tri - club league (A.B.C
- Bangor - Ferranti) will improve attendance this year.
Everything will be finalised at the next Bangor meeting but the
format will be run on a conservation / points, 14 matches held
with the best 8 results to count. Membership of the other clubs
is purely optional, everyone to meet at Lidl' s / Bangor at
10.00 am. After a short discussion it was decided to put a
ceiling of £50.00 towards league trophies, this or whatever sum
is agreed upon has to be matched by the other clubs. Possible
match dates: - March 24th, April 14th, May 12th, June 2nd, 16th,
30th, July 21st, 28th, August 4th, 25th, September 15th, 29th,
October 20th, November 10th.

Fish Recorder
Very little to report on, only 1 boat record broken but it was a
cracking fish, Tub Guard - 07.00.00 to John Trayner (Sec - being
caught during an ABC trip qualifies it for the Tom Hoban
Memorial Trophy). With the 2 yearly calibration of our metric
scales coming up shortly Wyn enquired whether Alwyn could take
on this task again, the man from Dwyran - he say yes!
Unfortunately our second scale is imperial and we are now all
metric (Federation ruling) so it was decided to purchase a 2nd
metric digital scale, Gethyn will order it.
