Chairperson
Firstly, can I welcome and thank everybody for their attendance tonight, it’s hard to believe that another year has passed since our last AGM (is that first signs of old age creeping on)!  Nothing to report really, other than I hope to do more fishing this year.

Secretary
With so little activity within the club it was a very quiet year for me to say the least, I had the odd letter to write and meeting to attend. Hopefully we can re-establish a few more sections tonight!  It would be very reminisce of me not to mention that a stalwart of the club, Johnny Slater, has not been in the best of health lately and I’m sure we all wish him well.

Once again the club was well represented at national level, having 4 members on duty: -
Home International / Ireland – Rob Roberts.
World Championships / Portugal – Rod Adamson, Arthur Beechey and Colin Orme Thomas.

On the team front the trio helped secure Wales best performance out of British waters, joint 6th position out of 18 nations. Special congratulations go to Rod on winning the Silver Individual medal (our first medal at this level), he lost out on the Gold by a count back, that out of a field of 95 anglers.

This year we have 6 members on duty, they are: -
Home International / Weymouth – Chris Hamblin, Gary Hobbs and Rob Roberts.
World Championships / Belgium – Rod Adamson, Arthur Beechey and Colin Orme Thomas. Good luck to one and all!

May I also extend congratulations to Colin on winning the Gold Pin at the EFSA Open Welsh Cod Championships held in the Mersey.

A short discussion took place concerning a few topics: -
Membership cards - Elwyn asked whether we could produce laminated cards (wonder who’s got one)! Gethyn offered to produce them, free of charge – especially Elwyn’s!

One suggestion, put forward by Wayne, was that we organise an open competition and name the trophy – Johnny Slater Trophy (as a gesture of support). Although we have run Open’s in the past, we decided that a main sponsor would have to be found for it to be financially successful. However we did discuss holding a close competition to the members (see updates and the small boats section).

Both charter and junior sections have been all but in active, resurrection of the charter section was very popular. A point raised by Alan, was that he would like to fish with the “big guns” (to many westerns Alan, or do we have a few cowboys hiding behind the cactus), Bob said this would be the ideal opportunity for coaching and to get another section going. Several members then asked Gethyn if the club could book onboard 'My Way', “as nearly all of my weekends are booked it might have to be weekdays”. This was agreeable, also possible evening conger trips.

From all accounts the coaching session Alan and Wyn ran was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone that turned. If the interest is there, I’m sure we could arrange a few more, which would be beneficial to everyone.

Treasurer
The balance sheet (see below) was circulated and then read though by Gethyn, after which he asked if anybody required anything clarifying – no questions. It was pointed out, by Gethyn, that whilst we do have a healthy bank balance, the subs are mainly swallowed up by our affiliation / insurance costs. So the raffle did help matters considerably.

Small Boats

In Myfyr’s absence, Dave said he would not be standing for office this year. A comment by Owie was that although the section started well it fell off rapidly after the RNLI open competition. It was a pity that only the same few anglers turned up for the remaining dates. The general feeling was whatever had happened should be put behind us and we should move on, especially as it seems we people wishing to join the club for this section alone. As dates / venues had already been discussed at a previous small boats meeting, it was passed to adopt the entire sheet produced at that meeting.

Also that Owie would stand for this post under the elections of officers (well done Stan a brilliant job of press ganging – oar was it someone else)!

A general discussion took place on the merits of holding a closed small boats competition. The outcome was that July 8th would be the date, venue Treaddur Bay and that the club would allocate £175.00 towards the prize money: -
1st prize - £100.00, 2nd prize - £50.00, 3rd prize - £25.00, a £10.00 entry fee per angler would be raised to offset the costs (handy work by the treasurer – you taught Gethyn to well Johnny)! proposed – Elwyn, seconded – Stan, passed unanimously.

The format was touched on, but it was felt this should be discussed / finalised at the next small boats meeting, April 20th – Holland Arms / Gaerwen – 8pm

Fish Recorder
Nothing to report on, as I have had no claims!.

Fund Raising Officer
Stan said that the raffle seemed to be successful, Rob thanked him for all his efforts and said it was very successful (see balance sheet for full breakdown).  A letter of thanks was sent to the Welmans club for allowing us to use their small gaming licence.

Stan asked whether we wanted to him to do another one this year, the answer was a definite  - YES!  A reduced amount of tickets would be printed, which hopefully will increase the profit margin (we now know that we can’t sell them in the Welmans club).

Press Officer
Not much to report on, as the small boats results dried up, Elwyn enquired if Alwyn’s e-mail address was altered, for results purposes, (Rob to pass on the new one).

North Region and WFSA Items
Unfortunately, the North Region has been dissolved, due to poor club attendance.  However, efforts are been made by Mike Flynn and myself to re-establish it.

On a conservation front, Rob said that Mike was working hard on two fronts, trawling within the Dee estuary and extraction of crab from the Menai Straits, by the mussel companies, both involving several meetings – up to Welsh Office level!  Thankfully with Mike’s input, trawling has now stopped, as for the crab – it is on going.  It was frightening to hear that 20 tons is being extracted per month, have you seen a drop in crab stocks?

Coaching – we have several members at Level 1 status, a big bone (who mentioned doggies) of contention was the CRB checks – or rather lack of!

Thankfully, they are being carried out for all the passed coaches.  Also the old committee has been dissolved and a new one set up, Arthur, Mike and myself have been involved and it is a much better set up all-round!
